  LaQuondra Shaw, Development Director

LaQuondra Shaw serves as the Development Director at Center for Student Opportunity. She is responsible for increasing philanthropic support for the organization, cultivating relationships with foundations, corporations and major donor prospects and writing grants. Shaw will focus on fundraising to support CSO’s emerging programs, including Opportunity Scholars, a national effort to support first-generation college students with their college search and selection process.

Prior to joining Center for Student Opportunity, Shaw served as an Organizational Development and Marketing Outreach Consultant at the Human Development Center Inc., (Milwaukee, WI) -- a non-profit organization assisting youth and families with psychosocial development. In addition, she conducted College Prep seminars for students participating in the Elite Scholarship Program. Shaw also served as a Graduate Research Analyst at the AARP Foundation. During her tenure at the AARP Foundation, she worked closely with the leadership team to research and analyze existing programs and developed new programmatic ventures targeting low income families, minorities and women.

Shaw is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is a graduate of American University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts is Political Science and a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management and Organizational Development.

In 2005, while at American University, she spent a semester abroad in Madrid, Spain and traveling along the Mediterranean. In Spain, she also worked as a translator for the Criminal Courts of Madrid. Once she returned to the United States, Shaw became an Americorps Member, volunteering over 900 community service hours in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

Shaw currently resides in Bethesda. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated (Potomac Valley Alumnae Chapter), a public service organization providing assistance to local communities.
