The Lewis and Clark Intercultural Network for Connecting Students (LINCS) Program
The Lewis and Clark Intercultural Network for Connecting Students (LINCS) is a peer-mentorship program focusing on diversity and retention. The program helps incoming students of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds adjust to college. All entering students are invited to participate in the LINCS program. LINCS pairs first-year students with successful returning students. The program provides opportunities for new students to connect with resources on campus and develop relationships with Lewis & Clark faculty, staff, and students. Campus LINCS gain mentoring experience and a deeper understanding of college resources.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholar Program
Ithaca College’s Martin Luther King Jr. Scholar Program is offered to exceptional students from ethnic or racial backgrounds that have been historically underrepresented in American higher education. Each year, MLK scholars involve themselves in community service, participate in seminars and interact with distinguished visitors and guest lecturers. They also engage in funded international and domestic travel and research. The scholars receive up to full tuition in aid, with a minimum merit-based scholarship of $18,000.

The Student Transition & Empowerment Program

The Student Transition & Empowerment Program (STEP) is a four-year program for selected, first-year students to enhance their academic and interpersonal growth. Nominated recipients are all Virginia residents and are often first generation college students or socio-economically disadvantaged. Participants of this incentive-based program are given a jump-start to their scholastic endeavors through academic preparation, career exploration, cultural awareness opportunities, service learning projects and empowerment services.

The High Potential Program of Saint Mary’s College admits and supports first-generation college students. The High Potential experience begins in the summer before the start of the student's freshman year at Saint Mary's College and is geared towards students who have been traditionally underserved and have faced social, economic, and educational obstacles. Students in the program learn essential college success skills and are paired with a mentor for extra guidance and support.

Meredith Promise Scholarships

In recognition of academic ability, intellectual promise, and leadership skills, Meredith College has established the Meredith Promise Scholarship for students from underrepresented groups. The scholarship is determined without regard to financial need. The scholarship is renewable up to a total of four years, provided the recipient remains in good standing, is a full-time student, and maintains a 2.5 quality point ratio on all courses taken at Meredith.

The College Awareness Program

The College Awareness Program is sponsored by Regis College and gives Latina middle school students an experience of college life. Its goals are to improve high-school retention and college awareness. During the four-week program, students live in the residence halls on campus from Sunday through Friday. They take classes in English, mathematics, science, and computers, and also take part in leadership and recreational activities. Regis College staff, faculty, current Hispanic college students, and members of the Boston Hispanic community also speak to the program participants about college life. There is no fee for this program.
