The Women With Children Program
The Women With Children Program is designed for academically qualified single mothers of all ages, providing them with the opportunity to attend classes while living on the Misericordia campus, with their children. This program offers convenience, personal support and financial help that can lead to confidence, academic success and economic self-sufficiency. Specialized peer and professional support is available to women students through the Learning Resource Center.

The Measure of Our Success Program
The Measure of Our Success Program is a community outreach opportunity that the Office of Intercultural Relations developed in 1991.  Approximately 70 fifth-grade students from neighboring Waukegan are partnered with Lake Forest College students.  The majority of the children are African American and Latino, are from low-income neighborhoods, and many are from single-parent homes.  The partnership takes the form of weekly tutoring between Lake Forest College student tutors and the Waukegan school children, as well as several field trips that the children make to the College.

First Generation Scholarship

The Fannie & Sam Constantino First Generation Scholarship Program is designed to provide financial and academic assistance to high school students who exhibit a high degree of motivation and academic potential and whose parents did not attend a post-secondary institution. In the First Generation Program, students enroll in a Learning Community designed to assist them in making a successful transition to a college environment, and they participate in an academic mentoring program in the Rochester Community. Scholarships are awarded annually to qualified students who have been nominated by a teacher, school counselor, employer, clergy member, or community leader. Recipients of the First Generation Scholarship will receive annual awards ranging from $5,000 to one-third of resident student costs ($9,300 in 2005-2006).

The Multicultural Scholarship Program

The Multicultural Scholarship Program assists persons who can enrich and diversify the cultural environment of Ozarks. Eligible students must be US citizens or residents with appropriate US documents; have an ACT score of at least 18 or SAT score of at least 850; and a GPA of 2.5. Scholarship amounts range between $1,000-$3,000, depending upon the student’s need and other funding sources. To apply, students must complete an application for admission, provide appropriate cultural documentation, and complete a financial aid application.

Bridges is a mid-orientation diversity program to introduce new students to upper-class students, alumni, faculty, and staff who will serve as guides to resources at the college and in the area and also will help students find their way in the Williams community. Students will learn everything from the location of the nearest ethnic restaurants to tips on maintaining academic excellence in a new and challenging environment. Bridges is an orientation program to help Williams students navigate college life in both its academic and social aspects. Bridges leads forums and workshops that allow students to strive towards embracing Williams College as a diverse community with shared values.
