Center for Student Opportunity's College Access & Opportunity Guide is the first of its kind - a comprehensive college guidebook aimed to prepare first-generation and traditionally underserved college-bound students for college and to help these students understand the many college opportunities that exist for them.
Inside the Guide you will find a dynamic four-step plan for students to follow to get to college - developed in collaboration with KnowHow2GO, a national public service campaign created in partnership with the Ad Council, Lumina Foundation for Education, and American Council on Education. Readers can also learn from articles and essays by college students and college leaders and gain advice for parents, mentors, and other adults.
The College Access & Opportunity Guide also features in-depth profiles of over 220 colleges and universities identified for their commitment to serving and supporting students from first-generation, underserved backgrounds. Comprehensive profiles highlight the outreach efforts, scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and support and retention services that each institution offers.
The College Access & Opportunity Guide is an essential all-in-one, student-friendly tool for students and families who are navigating an unfamiliar path to college and is sure to be a staple in college admissions offices, high school guidance offices, college centers, college access programs, community-based organizations, and libraries across the country.
Do you think your college or university should be included in the College Access & Opportunity Guide ? If so, contact info@csopportunity.org.
NOTE: Colleges are nominated for inclusion based on input and recommendations from a national independent advisory committee comprised of college presidents and chief administrators, college access and community-based organization leaders, and higher education association officials. Nominated colleges are asked to submit information via a survey process, which is reviewed by Center for Student Opportunity staff and its advisory committee to determine inclusion.
